MMC Gamuda wins award for planning and design

MMC Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd (MMC Gamuda) has won the Public Services Architecture Award for Malaysia at the recent Asia Pacific Property Awards 2019 held on 14 – 15 May 2019 in Bangkok.

MMC Gamuda architectural team was announced as the winner for Malaysia for the company’s MRT SSP Line Serambi station planning and design.

MMC Gamuda MRT SSP Line Project Director, Param Sivalingam said that the team was honoured and excited to receive the award.

“This award demonstrates MMC Gamuda’s principles and appreciation for architectural excellence.”

“Our main objective is the consumer’s journey experience and it’s always about balance- the balance between aesthetics and practical utility; essentially there is more to good station design than an impressive looking building.”

“The challenge is not only how our stations are going to look, but also designing to ease passenger flow, commuter convenience, maintenance, longevity, security and safety,” Param said.

“The award seeks to guide and inspire better building in the future and we are truly honoured for this recognition.”

“Ultimately, if we can gain public support to use public transportations, not only because it is reliable but also due to their overall pleasant experience aesthetically, that is our true pride,” Param added.

Meanwhile, MMC Gamuda MRT SSP Line Architect Director Audrey Teo said the achievement is no accident.

“We are delighted that our hard work and progress has been recognised. We learn from global best practices and have anchored the design and concept to the local environment successfully.”

“This is in line with MMC Gamuda’s continual strive to be a leader in the infrastructure industry and to always bring value-added innovations in whatever we do,” Audrey said.

The Asia Pacific Property Awards, now in their 25th year, are the world’s largest and most wide-ranging programme of honours within the property industry.
